Though I enjoy actual photos of wildlife, Taylor’s illustrations are so fantastic that you do not miss them. Baker covers sea life from plants to animals, from microscopic to hundreds of feet in size. I appreciated that she highlights many lesser known creatures such as Daphnia, Sea Butterfly, and Moon Jelly. I learned so many fascinating facts. Do you know that Giant Tube Worms spew toxic fluids that can melt lead? Or that Diatoms are so small that hundreds can fit on the head of a pin, yet when congregated, they can be seen from outer space?! Our planet Earth is so precious. We are surrounded by incredible creations and this book makes the reader excited to explore.
