The Crystal Ribbon

Written by Celeste Lim

A beautifully written book about an eleven-year-old girl named Crystal who becomes a child bride for a three-year-old and her life is changed forever. Her in-laws abuse and treat her lower than dirt and eventually sell her to become a prostitute. Though her life is filled with misfortune, Crystal continues to spread kindness to those less fortunate than her. By the end of the book, Crystal learns how to find peace and contentment in her life and to let go of the anger she has been caring. It has been many years since I have read such a powerful book, and I needed a few minutes to collect my emotions.
