Like a River Glorious

The Gold Seer Trilogy, #2

Written by Rae Carson

Lee Westfall and her companions from the wagon train have survived their journey west to California. But, they have not escaped their trouble, especially Lee. California yields problems and nemeses, both old and new. Lee’s gold sense helps them to find profitable claims and financial survival, but her secrets will put all of them in danger. Now Lee, and her best friend Jefferson, must decide if sharing her secrets or moving on alone will be best for all of them. Lee’s Uncle Hiram is still trying to capture her and control her abilities.

This is a great historical fiction series that is sure to enrapture readers. The action and peril are mixed into a well-paced story with new challenges and adventures around every corner. This will appeal to fans of Rae Carson, Historical Fiction, and Western Adventure. While the content is suitable for grades six or seven and up, the complex plot and characters will be best for grades 8 – 12.
