The Elephant Thief

Written by Jane Kerr

For Danny, a mute street urchin, a normal day consists of stealing valuables and avoiding Frank Scatcherd, gang leader and King of Crowgate. One day Danny is given the task to find a treasure beyond treasure during a menagerie auction. Due to unexpected events, Danny purchases the prize elephant Maharajah for Mr. Jameson. Mr. Jameson loves to put on a good show and bets his livelihood against a rival that Maharajah can travel by foot from Edinburgh to Belle Vue in Manchester in ten days. Follow Danny as he participates in the elephant race and faces unexpected dangers along the way. It will take all of Danny’s wits to arrive in Belle Vue in one piece, and he must learn to trust his traveling companions. Inspired by the actual events that took place in April 1872, The Elephant Thief will keep readers engaged from beginning to end.
