The Island at the End of Everything

Written by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

Life suddenly changes for Amihan when a mentally deranged government official is given authority to break up families and institute segregation on Culion Island, a leprosy colony, and take all disease-free children across the sea to an orphanage. Amihan suffers from the ill treatment of the government official and with the aid of her friend Mari devises a plan of escape so she can return to visit her dying mother, a leper. Along the way, Amihan encounters acts of kindness and discovers her true passion in life.
