Voices from the Second World War

Various Authors

This is a collection of stories from WWII survivors as told to children of today. Since they were children themselves during the war, these stories are particularly poignant, enthralling, chilling, and heroic. Each documentary is about 2 pages long, which makes it perfect to read for the intended audience. The photographs of the survivors help to humanize these accounts. The full-page spreads of actual war photos emphasize and give evidence of the reality of the war. Although there is a lot of death and incredible sadness, the book is written sensitively and with empathy. I think this will be a great addition to our library.
