In this wonderful fantasy, there are 13 year old twins and 3 younger sisters, all part of the same family. For no reason that they can explain their living room window turns blue and they all fall through, one at a time, into a strange world where the people switch back and forth from human to sharp-toothed animals. This new place wants to test them to see what they are made of..cutting them into pieces. Luckily Susan, one of the 13 year-old twins, is able to summon previously unknown magical strength to help them escape. The people seem normal, but the cultish atmosphere makes them uncomfortable. Even though they are able to develop some new extraordinary powers they are still frightened. An epic battle ensues before order is restored and the family of siblings are able to return home. The scenes are fanciful, the overall mood is tense and frightening.
