During the summer a typical neighborhood is transformed into the cardboard kingdom. There are evil sorceresses, knights, monsters, scholars, and everything in between. In order to participate each child must create their own character and incorporate cardboard somehow in their costume. Also, they must learn to cope with struggles at home and learn how to make friends. It is a fabulous book.
