This is a fun book about a girl who is trying to be a witch. It is number 7 in a series, but in many ways this book does not need to have the others read first for understanding or enjoyment. It does refer to her as the worst witch because of things that had happened in earlier books but does not mention those events in this volume.
Mildred wishes on a shorting star and discovers her wish came true. She wanted a dog and found Star. Together they learn how to work together to do Mildred’s chores and fun tricks. By working together they are able to enter a contest to try and win a swimming pool for their school.
