The Alcatraz Escape

Book Scavenger, #3

Written by Jennifer Chambliss Bertman

Emily and James are back again in the third installment of the Book Scavenger series, as are many other characters from the first two books. This time around Mr. Griswold, “legendary literary game-maker,” teams up with a famous yet reclusive mystery author, Errol Roy, to challenge fans with a new game, Unlock the Rock. Best of all, the game takes place on Alcatraz Island. But Emily and James have received threatening notes, and as the game begins their excitement wanes as it seems someone has it out for them and their group of friends.

The Alacatraz Escape takes the reader on an exciting mystery-adventure, as readers (and book characters) try to solve the various mysteries and puzzles throughout the book. Jennifer Bertman has done it again, writing a fun novel with humor, mystery, imagination, and historical information. Even though this is the third book in the Book Scavengers series, one can read it and follow along just fine without having read the first two books – although I highly recommend reading the others to get to know the characters and their backgrounds better.
