The House That Lou Built

Written by Mae Respicio

This book is adorable and so inspiring. The main character is a proactive 13-year old named Lou. She is such a strong yet relatable character, which is why every teen should read this book. This book is based on the concept of hard work, persistence, determination, and problem-solving, and these lessons, as well as a few side stories, are beautifully incorporated into the main story. The protagonist should be most girls’ role model because she doesn’t break down even though she is on the verge of a life-changing event. She still keeps her calm and makes creative, if not crazy, ideas to keep her life together. Though the most appealing thing in this book is Lou’s unwavering goals, she doesn’t give up, even though life throws so many things at her! Overall, if you are someone who likes girl power and books from Joan Bauer, this is definitely the book for you! Read it, you definitely won’t regret it!
