A Drop of the Sea
Written by Ingrid Chabbert, Illustrated by Guridi

Ali makes a long journey to fulfill his great-grandmother’s lifelong desire to see the sea. I loved this almost fable about family love. There aren’t many children’s books out there that talk about great-grandmas and the difficulty they may have in moving around, doing things, or accomplishing what they have always thought they would one day be able to do. It shows that dreams can be realized, that family loyalty is important, and that children can accomplish amazing things. The illustrations are wonderful. Black, white, and yellow, sort of abstract and interesting. I loved this book and so did the students I read it to.
