Mary, Who Wrote Frankenstein, written by Linda Bailey and illustrated by Júlia Sardà

Mary, Who Wrote Frankenstein
Written by Linda Bailey, Illustrated by Júlia Sardà

Frankenstein is perhaps my all-time favorite book. I was excited to discover a picture book that talked about how the idea came to Mary Shelley, how she became a writer, who she was influenced by, and how remarkable the entire legacy has become. “Frankenstein was a creative breakthrough, widely considered to be the first modern novel of science fiction.” It was also enlightening to learn about the fates of the friends she was with one stormy night, who decided to each write a ghost story.
The illustrations are perfect for this book. It is written as a picture book biography. This is one of the books on the Publisher’s Weekly Best of 2018 list.
