I tried to have an open mind with this book, but I struggled with it. Maybe it was because I’m not so current on the now text message language, maybe it was because I miss how books used to be written, or maybe it was just because the writing wasn’t very good. I did like that the concept of bullying via social media came across, and that it can be extremely painful for the victim, and I really liked that everything worked out in the end.
I think 5th graders will understand the storyline better, but it’s written so simply that an advanced 3rd grader would have no problem with it. The content is more for 6th-8th grade, but I’m not sure the story line would appeal to them. Before purchasing this book, I’d check it out from a library and give it a read yourself.
