Mangoes, Mischief, and Tales of Friendship: Stories from India, by Chitra Soundar and Uma Krishnaswamy

Mangoes, Mischief, and Tales of Friendship: Stories from India
Written by Chitra Soundar, Illustrated by Uma Krishnaswamy

“Mangoes, Mischief, and Tales of Friendship” is a great book to introduce children to different folktales than they are familiar with. All the stories found within this book are from India and are about solving problems in a unique and creative manner. The solutions bring justice to the situation and wisdom to the reader. I loved it from beginning to end. Chitra does an excellent job of connecting the many India folktales together in a seamless story as the reader follows the adventures of Prince Veera and his best friend Suku as they work together to run the kingdom.
