The Legend of Greg, by Chris Rylander

The Legend of Greg (An Epic Series of Failures, #1)
Written by Chris Rylander

The Legend of Greg is a modern fantasy, similar to Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series in both the way the setting is laid out and the narrator’s sense of humor. The main character, a young boy named Greg, suffers from chronic bad luck, and it’s hereditary. His whole family has had terrible luck for generations. Greg eventually discovers that he is actually a dwarf and that his bad luck is a direct result of a magical war that happened a very, very long time ago. Greg learns a lot about trust, prejudice, friendship, and family. Unfortunately, he doesn’t always make the right choices, but that lends the book more authenticity and shows how even a kid with terrible luck can learn to cope with misfortune – even the misfortune he brings upon himself.
