Amber & Dusk, by Lyra Selene

Written by Lyra Selene

Abandoned as a baby and raised in the Dusklands by the Sisters of the Scion, Sylvie has been taught to hide her powers, never to reveal them. When she discovers that her powers are a sign she belongs at the royal court, she heads to Coure d’Or, palais of the Amber Empress, to claim her spot. When she gets there, however, the empress only allows her in as part of a bet. In order to earn her place, she must master her powers and prove she belongs at court. As she begins to navigate the secret social circles of the court, she begins to realize things are not always what they appear. Will she gain her rightful place at court? The plot is well-developed with lots of twists and turns. Chapters end in such ways that readers will have a hard time putting them down. Characters are intriguing, flawed, and engaging. Sure to delight fans of books like Kiera Cass’ The Selection and Astrid Scholte’s Four Dead Queens, or readers who like magic, court intrigue, and fantasy adventure.
