Red Light, Green Lion

Written by Candace Ryan, Illustrated by Jennifer Yerkes

Green Lion is waiting for the light to turn green so he can cross the road and meet his friend the red lion. While waiting, a rainstorm occurs and green lion uses a lifesaver to stay afloat while the livestock uses a lifeboat.

The illustrations are simple line art, with each animal being a solid color. Each page ends with the phrase “red light, green li-” and the reader must turn the page to learn what word starts with “li.” A fun book to teach the “li” sound and showing children that lots of things start with “li.” It is also a cute story about accepting the unexpected and making the most of it.
