The Very Impatient Caterpillar

Written and Illustrated by Ross Burach

A curious caterpillar learns about his impending metamorphosis. As he receives step by step instructions, he learns to let nature take its course and that patience is mandatory. He is rewarded by transforming into a beautiful butterfly, of course, but must still be patient as it is now time to migrate.

This is a great introductory book to teach the life cycle of a caterpillar with humor and eye-catching illustrations. There is a great spread that shows how a chrysalis changes each day for 2 weeks. The scientific vocabulary is explained in an easy to understand manner: chrysalis, metamorphosis, transformation, and migration, as well as the entire concept of patience. Very cute.
