From a Small Seed: The Story of Eliza Hamilton

Written by Camille Andros, Illustrated by Tessa Blackham

A charming picture book biography of Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton. The soft illustrations and simple story give a brief glimpse into the life of Eliza, from small seed to a strong rooted tree. As a child she loved to climb hills that left most breathless, hop fences for shortcuts to the next adventure, and to learn. Early on she was thoughtful and charitable. In adulthood Eliza helped form our nation with her husband Alexander Hamilton. She gave food and clothing to those in need and helped form an orphanage and free school so those less fortunate were taken care of. The book also shows that throughout her life her hardships only made her stronger. The author’s note at the end has additional information, as well as a secret fiction she wrote and why it was added. Exceptional informational read.
