Dandelion’s Dream

Written and Illustrated by Yoko Tanaka

Dandelion’s Dream is a wordless picture book. A dandelion in a meadow of dandelions blooms and becomes a real lion with no roots. This dandelion is ready to leave the meadow and explore the world. His first adventure is a train ride, followed by a ride on a sheep, and then he catches a ship. In the city, he is small and overlooked. He enters a theater to see an airplane on the screen. Now he is a pilot in his own plane. He flies back to the meadow and becomes a dandelion with roots. As the wind catches the seeds of the dandelion, a lion is formed and leaps toward the moon. I enjoyed the aspect of a dandelion with no ties to the earth and full of dreams. We all have dreams.
