Felix and the Monsters

Written and Illustrated by Josh and Monica Holtsclaw

Felix has one job as a guard on the city wall: he has to keep the little monsters out. But Felix mostly likes to play his keytar and daydream about being in a band. One day a little monster, Dot, who also plays the bass guitar, hears Felix playing. Dot entices Felix to come to his side of the wall, where Felix finds the little monsters all playing different instruments and having all sorts of fun. Read this book to find out what happens when the other guards come to save Felix.

This is a fun story about preconceived notions, acceptance, inclusion, friendship, and being open to new adventures. The illustrations are bright and joyful. This would make a good read aloud and could lead to some great discussions.
