Brother’s Keeper

Written by Julie Lee

How much do you know about the Korean War? How did it affect the families living in North Korea? What did they do about it? Julie Lee takes us through the fictional yet historical journey of one family and how it affected them.

Sora and her family leave their home in North Korea when they don’t know what else to do. On their journey, she and her brother are separated from their parents. Not knowing what else to do, they take the journey to South Korea in hopes that they will meet up with their parents in Busan, where they are headed.

This book will fill a hole in our school library and I plan to recommend it to specific children and teachers. It provides a window into a world that most of our students aren’t familiar with.
