Maybe Maybe Marisol Rainey

Written and Illustrated by Erin Entrada Kelly

Marisol Rainey wants to try things but always finds herself saying “maybe” – maybe next time, maybe later. She has some normal fears but the biggest one is climbing the tree in her backyard she’s named Peppina. (Marisol loves to name things that you don’t usually name – be sure to read the author’s note at the end to see why). Marisol has watched others climb that tree with ease. Will she ever be able to conquer her fears and make that climb?

I knew if it was an Erin Entrada Kelly book I was sure to love it and Marisol Rainey did not disappoint. Full of humor, fun, and friendship, it’s a beautiful tale of learning to be brave, try new things, and experience the joy that comes from that. This book is a bit of a departure from what we’ve seen from Kelly, as this is a small, easier chapter book written more for a younger audience, but it has Kelly’s stamp on it and it’s a delightful tale.
