Show Me a Sign is a beautifully written look into a world and a time not so different from ours, if you care to look. This historical fiction takes place in America in the late 1700s. It gives a look into the incredible community on Martha’s Vineyard, comprising of both hearing and deaf. It follows a young girl who discovers that the rest of the country and much of the world has a very different view of those who are deaf. Ann LeZotte shows how our differences should be embraced, that there is no place for prejudice, and that we are all human. It is a beautiful and emotional journey, one readers will enjoy to go on.
