Jo Jo Makoons: The Used-to-Be Best Friend

Written by Dawn Quigley, Illustrated by Tara Audibert

This is a fun, easy chapter book about a young girl (probably kindergarten or first grade) who lives on an Ojibwe reservation with her mom, her grandma, and her cat. She is learning a lot about life, family, school, and friendship. The book has bright humor and situations to which many children can relate. It reads like a Junie B. Jones, with the added bonus of more diverse representation and lots of fun facts about native peoples and the Ojibwe culture. I highly recommend it!
