Wind Riders: Rescue on Turtle Beach

Written by Jen Marlin, Illustrated by Izzy Burton

Wind Riders: Rescue on Turtle Beach is part of a new coming series for young readers. The concept of this easy-read chapter book is that of time and space travel, similar to the Magic Tree House series. However, the focus here is on wildlife preservation rather than an historical event. Two friends, Max and Sofia, find an abandoned old sailboat when they wander away from the beach into a close by mangrove forest. As they climb onto the boat to explore, they are magically whisked away to Hawaii, where they find nests of baby sea turtles ready to hatch. The sea turtles’ chance of survival is precarious before they are even born. How Max and Sofia save the turtles is the rest of the adventure. They return back home in the sailboat to find that no time has elapsed since they boarded the boat and they are able to return to their unsuspecting families without worry. The story level is geared towards beginning readers with fun illustrations included.
