The Lights That Dance in the Night

Written and Illustrated by Yuval Zommer

The Northern Lights are mysterious, amazing and surreal. And this book does a beautiful job capturing all of those feelings about the “lights that dance in the night.” I thought this book would be something else, a book that explains what the Northern Lights are and how they work. But this is more like a book of poetry, one with a cadence that suits reading it aloud as you show the whimsical illustrations. It’s not too long for younger kids, but also has enough to keep older kids’ attention. I especially loved the illustrations of the reindeer and the people of the North as they watch the lights dazzle the sky. This would be a great addition to collections or displays about the arctic, winter, cold, and snow.
