Silver in the Bone

Written by Alexandra Bracken

Born without any magic, Tamsin Lark’s world is thrown into chaos when her foster father disappears. She scrapes by finding ancient relics for money; money that keeps her and cursed brother, Cabell, alive. Ten years after his disappearance, rumors of her guardian vanishing with a ring from Arthurian legend reach her ears. When she has a run-in with her rival, she starts to have a glimmer of hope that finding the ring could break her brother’s curse. Partnering with her rival, the two race against their competitors to solve the mystery, unravel Tamsin’s past, and save Cabell. Will they succeed?

The characters are engaging and endearing. The world building is well done. Plot was slow to pick up, but the mix of Arthurian mythology and adventure was intriguing and engaging. With twists and turns throughout the latter part of the book and a cliffhanger of an ending, readers’ interests will be piqued enough to read the next book in the series. Fans of Alexandra Bracken, mythology, adventure, and fantasy will want to pick this one up.
