I’m a Virus!

Science Buddies

Written by Bridget Heos, Illustrated by Mike Ciccotello

In a very cute and creative way, Virus introduces itself to us and explains the process of how a virus travels, makes a person sick, how the body reacts, defends, and protects against future sickness, and how vaccines are used to prevent serious illnesses. At the end, Covid-19 is addressed. The reader can also read about how Smallpox led to the idea of vaccines. The author and illustrator use language and pictures to capture children’s attention…such as snot, boogers, and nose hairs! I think it is engaging and informative. There are a lot of scientific terms and processes that might be difficult for young children to understand, but it is simplified as much as possible.
