Sparrows in the Wind

Written by Gail Carson Levine

From one of my favorite authors, this book is the story of the Trojan War from Princess Cassandra’s point of view, and tells of her attempts to change the horrible fate of her city despite the fact her prophecies go ignored. I absolutely loved this version of such a classic tale. I loved the characters and the plot turns, as well as the surprise twist of an ending. It shares diverse perspectives between Cassandra and the Amazon princess, Rin. Most importantly was the way in which this book highlights Cassandra’s perseverance and hope despite the hopelessness of her situation, as well as the importance of friendship and familial love. All in all, it was an absolutely great read for young readers that I highly recommend.
