A Pet for Petunia

Book Giveaway!

Petunia wants nothing more in the world than to have a pet skunk. She loves stripes, she loves their cute noses, and she loves their big black eyes. She is very frustrated that her parents will not give her what she wants. Like many children, she runs away and finds her dreams come true.

This is a fun little story. At one point Petunia is very frustrated and calls her parents a name. Some parents may not like this aspect of the book, however I think that it is wonderful to show that all children get frustrated with their parents. I also love the simplicity of the illustrations. It highlights Petunia’s personality.

  1. Would love to have this book. I may buy it anyway if I don’t win it. We need to get new titles for our picture books. Thanks again for the reviews!

  2. This looks like a book many children could relate to. It intrigues me since my daughter is expecting her 1st baby, but has a “baby” already…her mini dachsund who lays his head on her baby bump and looks up at her…. I think he needs a pet of his own… It would be fun to read this book to our younger students.

  3. I love the black and white simple illustrations with the splash color. It really catches your eye. I think the story would appeal to children as well – they love any stories about pets!

  4. Reminds me of how I always wanted a dog but my parents would never let us have pets. Now they have no kids at home and 2 dogs. I’ve always been a lttle distraught at that…
Would love to win the book!

  5. Petunia sounds like someone I know. I loved the simply and pure illustrations. This would make a great addition to our library.

  6. This looks like a great story with a message. I would love to add this to our collection. Thanks for the review and a change to win this treasure.

  7. This book reminds me of my sister begging my parents for a chimpanzee when we were kids! (My mom told her of couse she could have one, but she would have to wait a little while until she had a house of her own!!) This would be a fun book to add to our library collection.

  8. This looks like a great read aloud. I’d love to have this for our Library. Pets, kids, skunks, humor…the stuff of great stories!

  9. This looks like a book that children would relate to – haven’t we all wanted to have something our parents wouldn’t allow?

This book looks good to me and I can relate to it…I had a pet skunk when I was younger, honestly. I can say they are not the best pet.
