Consumed

Trying to read Consumed without having read the first book, Possessed, was difficult. I was frequently lost, so would recommend reading the first one, but only if you enjoy reading about very evil stuff! There is plenty here, along with romance, suspense and the supernatural. The main character, Rayne, has come to Morton’s Keep in England to get away from her boring life in London. She lives in a remote mansion house where she encounters all kinds of danger. She no longer knows who to trust. She even questions her relationship with Ethan, who saved her life. Her choices are sometimes frustrating. The story builds to a suspenseful climax in which Rayne and her friends face off against the people who would bring back ancient evils. Recommended for older teens.

  1. The gothic images are vivid and engrossing. The story is entertaining and is well-paced. This sequel to Possessed continues in a true horror fashion that will leave fans of supernatural horror and Steven King engrossed in a spine-tingling novel.
