Fly Away

flyawayWritten by Patricia MacLachlan

This is a story about Lucy and her family. They travel from their home to North Dakota to help Aunt Frankie save her home and farm when the Red River floods. Lucy finds her own talent in writing poetry, which is different from her family’s musical talent of singing. Lucy cannot carry a tune and yet her voice is the one that will help to rescue her brother. This is a charming story that could be used in a classroom in so many ways. Each reader will find a different meaning. I love how Patricia MacLachlan weaves this story to be meaningful in layers. It will touch your heart and soul.
