Sequoia

sequoiaWritten by Tony Johnston, Illustrated by Wendell Minor

Absolutely beautiful illustrations! Sequoia tells the story of these ancient and magnificent trees through pictures and poetry.

Mornings
he stands
with a thin
shawl
of sun upon
his shoulders.
He watches the
grove below
slowly
fill with
light.

I was grateful that at the end of the book, there was more information about the Sequoia tree in contrast to the Coastal Redwood tree. I was unaware that they were different trees and learned something new. As I was reading this book, my 15 year old son stopped to admire the illustrations, too. His conclusion was that this book is all about the pictures!
