A Library Book For Bear

A Library Book for BearWritten by Bonny Becker, Illustrated by Kady MacDonald Denton

I LOVE the bear’s body language and expressions! The team of writer and illustrator work very well together. When Bear and Mouse ride to the library the pictures made me feel a part of the “wind rippling nicely through their fur.” Bear seems to be having as terrible a time on that page as Mouse is having a wonderful time. I hadn’t heard of other Bear and Mouse books, but will look for them. Thinking about Bears’ expressions makes me smile.

When our heroes get to the library it is easy to see how the lettering on the page gets bigger and bigger as Bear talks louder and louder. Bear would like a book about pickles, please. Mouse isn’t having a lot of luck finding one. The librarian is having story time and Bear hears something interesting. Fortunately things work out well.

This would be fun for a librarian to share with a group at story time – or with a bear that likes pickles.
