An Ember in the Ashes

An Ember in the AshesWritten by Sabaa Tahir

When Laia’s brother is arrested for Treason she realizes that she must save him. Forced to become a slave and a spy, she finds out that her empire is worse than she imagined, and what she imagined wasn’t pretty. Elias is a disillusioned soldier, and he wants out. However, fate will not let him. The two story lines intertwine and bind these two unlikely friends.

This is a great read with two main characters, one male and one female. The plot and world created are complex, yet easy to follow and the reader will get lost in their story. The characters grow immensely during the book. Readers of fantasy and the Ranger’s Apprentice series will love this book.

I just finished this and I really liked it, too! I enjoyed switching between the POV between the two main characters.
