Until I Find Julian

Until I Find JulianWritten by Patricia Reilly Giff

Until I Find Julian had a great story to tell. Mateo is a boy living in Mexico with his mom, grandma, and little brother. He works to support his family. His older brother Julian has gone to America to find work and put money in the bank for Mateo, their mom, grandma, and little brother. However, Mateo’s friend comes to the door one day, saying that the police showed up at the building he was working at and he’s not sure what happened to Julian.

Mateo overhears what happened, and having just lost his job, knows what he has to do. He’s got to find Julian to make sure he’s okay and that there will be money coming again. Along the way, he meets a girl about his age named Angel. Angel has left home because she and her grandfather don’t get along. Angel helps Mateo cross the border and goes through the ups and downs of being an illegal immigrant.

Will Mateo be able to find Julian and take good news home, or will all the troubles of crossing the border not be worth it? You’ll have to read it to find out.
