Finding someplace

Finding someplaceWritten by Denise Lewis Patrick

This was an outstanding book. The writing is powerful and immediately pulls you in to the story. It is a great example of historical fiction and is a keeper! I loved how the author captured the mood and emotions of people during the 2005 hurricane Katrina: the dread, the danger, the fear, the chaos, the loss, the feelings that haunt people who have survived a disaster, and then the going back to New Orleans to find such extensive destruction. It made me feel like I was there!

I loved how the characters find the truism that we find our someplace is not an actual place: “It was with the people who’d made her feel strong, even when she wasn’t. It was the people who felt like family, even when they weren’t. She could carry her someplace around with her always now, because it was inside her heart.”
