Knights of the Borrowed Dark

Knights of the Borrowed DarkWritten by Dave Rudden

Knights of the Borrowed Dark contains elements that will be enjoyed by fans of both Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. It is a nice combination of magic, mystical creatures, and combat between good and evil. Upon turning thirteen, Denizen, left at an orphanage as a baby, discovers that he has powers that can be used to combat creatures from another realm, the Tenebrous. He is introduced to the Order of the Borrowed Dark, Knights who share his powers and are able to train him. The king of the Tenebrous has grown angry and impatient because of something stolen from him and war is imminent. Can Denizen master his powers in time to make a difference? The book’s ending allows this to be a stand-alone novel, but it is the first book of a trilogy so we know that there is more to look forward to. The book starts a little slow, and the transition between the first and second chapters is a little confusing, but once you get past that the book is hard to put down.
