Charlie spends two weeks every summer at his grandparents’ farm while his parents went on a vacation. Because Charlie’s grandparents are very busy doing their chores, Charlie is lonely most of the day. Charlie decides to go explore. He catches tadpoles and plays with a baby turtle. Then Charlie finds an old bridge, He would sometimes crawl under it to cool off and sometimes he would stand on the bridge and drop stones into the water underneath. One day Charlie realizes that if he hit the railing of the bridge with a big stone it would make the bridge ring like a big bell. He could hear the ringing echo away down the valley, and then Charlie would hear a bell sound coming back sounding different like a bong. Charlie wanted to know if it was an echo or someone answering back to him. Read this book to find out the answer, it’s a mystery!
A fun book about a summer childhood adventure. The illustrations look like green, orange, and yellow watercolor. Very pretty and nostalgic looking.
