Last Man Out

last-man-outWritten by Mike Lupica

Twelve-year-old Tommy Gallagher and his father Patrick (who is a firefighter) have a very special relationship. His love of football came from his father; they watched the New England Patriots together, his father went to his practices and games. Dad was always around to help him with his defensive plays on the football field. Patrick was also around to help Tommy’s little sister Em as she excelled in soccer. Patrick always taught them the importance of being a leader on and off the field. When Tommy’s father doesn’t make it out of a fire at the beginning of Tommy’s football season, he feels as if all his dreams died with his dad. His life is falling apart and football and soccer just aren’t important for Tommy and Em. What will they do? This book is a great book, with short, action-packed chapters. You will especially like this book if you like sports and real life action. Thumps up for Mike Lupica.
