A Boy Called Christmas

a-boy-called-christmasWritten by Matt Haig, Illustrated by Chris Mould

Nicholas lives with his woodcutter father in a one room shack in Finland. When his father goes North to find elves and he is left with his horrible Aunt Carlotta, Nicholas decides to head north himself. On the journey he faces many dangers, makes a new friend and…meets elves!

Chris Mould’s clever illustrations bring it all to life. The book’s cover declares that this story is sure to be a holiday classic, and I agree. However, this isn’t for young children. There are some disturbing images (a pixie that likes to make heads explode is one of them) and some sad situations that might scare young ones. But for older children and adults who are young at heart, this is a wonderful, new holiday tale.
