The Runaway Santa

the-runaway-santaA Christmas Adventure Story

Written by Anne Margaret Lewis, Illustrated by Aaron Zenz

Santa has decided he needs an adventure vacation before he sets out on his Christmas Eve journeys. As he talks with Mrs. Claus about all the places he would like to travel to, she unselfishly tells him the things she will pack for him to be prepared. Each and every time Mrs. Claus says, “You must take care, for you are my jolly Santa.” Will Santa end up going on his adventure alone? Find out when you read this sweet Christmas story. I really like this story because of its message of not being selfish. It is very subtle and gently taught. I liked the contrast of Santa, all excited and ready for an adventure and then Mrs. Claus, who kindly helps him get ready. The illustrations are simple, but colorful and perfect for the quiet message. I also liked how you could use a map or globe with the story and have students find the places Santa wants to travel to. This is a very cute and unique Christmas story about friendship.
