The Lonely Giant

Written and Illustrated by Sophie Ambrose

A giant living in a mountain top high above the forest loves to smash and mash everything around him. That is until one day he discovers that he has completely destroyed his surroundings and all the creatures have left the forest. Sad and alone, the giant finds a little yellow songbird that he imprisons in a cage in his cave. But he soon finds out that you cannot lock up happiness. After setting the little bird free, the giant realizes that he has to fix what he has destroyed. This is a simple but charming story of doing something wrong and learning to make amends. I read this to the younger grade students and most of them were captivated by the simplicity of the story line. I would recommend this for K – 3rd Grade.
