The Future of Us

Written by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler

Emma and Josh are neighbors and have been best friends forever. At 15, things change and become very awkward between the two of them when Josh tries to kiss Emma.

This same year, 1996, Emma receives a computer from her dad. Josh gives her an AOL disk to connect the computer to the internet. When she logs on Facebook automatically comes up. Facebook isn’t invented for 15 years. There it is giving Emma and Josh a peak into their futures. They discover that as they refresh the page their status changes. Not only that, but they find that as they change what they do, who they talk to, and what they think it has a ripple effect into the future. Is it good to know what happens 15 years from now?

This was a great coming of age book.
