The Silver Mask

Magisterium, #4

Written by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

The Silver Mask is a great conclusion to the Magisterium series. The whole series reminds me a little of Harry Potter, though different too. The characters are well developed. The authors have created people that make you feel, whether it’s empathy or intense dislike. However, none of the characters are one dimensional. They all have some good and bad in them. The main character Call is trying to discover if he is destined to be evil or if he can create his own destiny. This book also tackles dealing with the death of a good friend and whether bringing them back is what is best for you or them. There is plenty of adventure, magic and a little teenage angst. I felt the story resolved the series well, though the Epilogue leaves the opening for another book or new series should the authors chose to continue. I have enjoyed reading the whole series and would recommend them for any library.
