Take the Mic

Various Authors, Edited by Bethany C. Morrow

This collection of short stories made me laugh, cry, scream, and also want to hide. Every story speaks for an individual experience in the confines of a wider culture. One story is not better than the others because they’re so unique, brimming with overt & covert meaning, and provide a glimpse into what it’s like to be human. The topics range from the short-lived drama of growing up to growing up too fast in ways one would never expect. Some may be offended by some of the language and references to drugs and sex, but that’s life, which is exactly what these stories mirror.
