North & South: A Tale of Two Hemispheres

Written and Illustrated by Sandra Morris

North & South is a beautifully written and illustrated book comparing animals and habitats in the northern and southern hemispheres. The author divides the book into the months of the year and assigns each month an animal characteristic, such as “Cunning camouflage,” “Showing off,” and “On the hunt.” Each month features two animals, one from the northern hemisphere and one from the south. For each animal there is a mini map showing it’s habitat and where it falls in relation to the equator. There are beautiful illustrations to go with each animal and a conservation status showing whether or not it is endangered. The introduction to the book has a lot of information about the different hemispheres and their seasons. There is also a lengthy glossary and index in the back, with a “How you can Help” section for wildlife conservation. There is a lot of info in this book, which makes it more suitable for advanced readers, but those who love wild animals will love this book.
